Happy April Fool’s Day! A few big companies came out with some clever jokes that stirred the web. Using humor in your marketing has always been an excellent way to get noticed and break through the clutter. Let’s see some examples:

Google announced the Google Nose beta.  I’ve always thought that being able to add smell to a computer would be a great marketing tool. Imagine the possibilities for marketing if you could smell a product before buying it.

YouTube claimed they are going to shut down the site the entire network was just a big contest. Very funny.

Virgin Airlines stated they are working on a glass bottom airplane. Scary if trues it gathered good engagement on the post. I thought it would be great to have if possible and I’ll leave it to Richard Branson to design it. Clever joke.

Scope announced the bacon flavored mouthwash. It’s all about the bacon these days. Why not have some with your mouthwash?

Now, the verdict is not out yet on whether this is actually a joke, just in case you see this product in your grocery store next month, don’t be surprised.

Subaru announced the AWD turbo convertible two-seater diesel. A spokesman for the company said: “Having just launched the current model to widespread critical acclaim, we are tired of fighting off the constant speculation about what’s “next” and so we are just giving in and delivering all the speculation in one vehicle.”
