Out and About Marketing Welcomes: Scout A. Owl
We are proud to announce Scout A. Owl as the newest member of our Out&About Marketing team!
Since owls find it hard to type, we’ll just let Scout introduce himself and we’ll translate:
“Hello, my name is Scout A. Owl and I guess you could say I’ve led quite a remarkable life. I come from humble beginnings in Ketchican, Alaska but the one thing I can say about humble beginnings is they give you the greatest motivation to reach for impossible goals. And so when Ketichican – the salmon capitol of the world – had a year without salmon, I knew I had to do something. The sport fishing tourism community had dried up and with it, the hope of the town. No one knew what to do. But I had a half formulated crazy plan and I decided to wing it. I entered the Iditarod… with no experience. Having never touched social media I reached out to every platform I could think of: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, GoFundMe, Crowdfunder, Indiegogo, to raise awareness that to sponsor me meant saving my town. I finished the race dead last. And I raised 60 million dollars. Since then, I’ve become somewhat of a celebrity: I was invited to be Hedwig’s body double in Harry Potter, I chose the turkey for the Obama’s to pardon, was called in as a consultant by Owly at Hootsuite, and convinced Mr. Owl to see just how many licks it takes to get the the center of a tootsie pop (166). But despite hanging out with the who’s who, I have decided to go back to my true passion: social media. I believe in social media because with the right story and connection, you can accomplish anything. So I have taken this job at Out&About as a Social Media Manager so that I can work for a company that shares my vision of the extravagant and the impossible. Real marketing isn’t gimicky: it’s life changing. Let’s change the world.”
