The power of TripAdvisor for companies in the travel&tourism industry

We all know that consumer reviews and word of mouth are super powerful for the travel&tourism industry. As consumers, we ask our friends for recommendations as to where to eat, where to stay, where to go.

As a contributor to TripAdvisor, I’ve written a few reviews myself, telling other people what I thought of a certain place. I wanted to “give back” to the community of people who want to get the real story of a place. A story based on real people’s feedback instead of the glorified, well written marketing copy.

I received this email from TripAdvisor giving me an idea of how many people have seen my reviews. I have written a total of 9 reviews and they have been seen by 4,090 people in total. WOW!!

Imagine how many people are reviewing your company and how powerful it can be for your brand.

      Hi, thank you for your comment. I’m sure there are some reviews that are posted by friends of a company or competitors. I hope this is a small percent. I think overall, you will get your most passionate customers and your most angry ones to post a review. The ones in the middle probably won’t bother. Hope this helps.
