Out&About Marketing Receives Top Honor at Reno Tahoe AMA Ace Awards for #truckeemoments
Designed to acknowledge marketing excellence within the community, the Reno Tahoe AMA (American Marketing Association) Ace Awards – celebrates the best marketing strategies of the year. Taking home the coveted Best in Social Media marketing award was the #TruckeeMoments hashtag campaign. Working on behalf of the Truckee Donner Chamber of Commerce, the campaign was developed and implemented by Out&About Marketing and launched in Spring 2014.
The campaign was designed to leverage the town’s popularity while increasing engagement on social media. Originally created as a 30-day contest on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, the campaign inspired locals and visitors to share their favorite Truckee experiences and their passion for the community. It quickly became apparent that #TruckeeMoments had taken hold and become an endless addiction for locals and visitors to show their love of all things Truckee. At that point, #TruckeeMoments transitioned to an ongoing social media movement. The results of the campaign are impressive with over 1,300 photos/videos submitted boosting the Truckee image library significantly for future marketing efforts. The Visit Truckee Facebook page grew “likes” by 513%; Instagram now has 603 followers (previously, there was no Truckee Instagram presence); and Twitter followers grew by 136%. Visits to Truckee.com website have increased 64% with mobile visits up an astonishing 270%. #TruckeeMoments has been embraced by the community – so much so that it is the theme of the 2014 Truckee 4th of July Parade. Participants and spectators are being asked to share their Truckee 4th experiences and tag it with #TruckeeMoments. The Truckee marketing team integrated #TruckeeMoments into all efforts including website, e-mail newsletters, TripAdvisor profile, press releases, direct outreach to local organizations and businesses, and influencers online. Videos of local businesses and visitors were created under the #TruckeeMoments campaign, and user-generated photos will appear throughout the 2014/15 Truckee Visitors Guide.
